Nestled into a hilltop of 18 rolling acres, the estate overlooks the Upper Rio Grande Valley to the west and mountain views in all directions.   A gated entry and 650-ft. paved driveway lead to the main residence with parking court for more than 20 cars.  Substantial stone work, adobe walls, flagstone patios highlight the native plantings, deciduous and evergreen trees.  A private 650-ft. well, 26,000-gallon underground water storage, root cellar, backup generators, security and septic systems serve the property.

Main Residence

The main residence is a triple-adobe grand hacienda of approximately 8800 square feet.  A gracious entry leads to a central hall accessing the two-story living room with massive adobe fireplace and clerestory windows.

The kitchen is a cook’s delight with large center island, dual dishwashers, two sinks, double ovens, eating area, kiva fireplace hand-painted by Eric Sloane, abundant custom cabinetry and walk-in pantry.  A powder room, laundry, mudroom, and atrium provide additional conveniences.  On the north side is a large breakfast room with kiva fireplace and doors to the west patio with outdoor barbecue and dramatic sunset views.

Adjacent to the kitchen is the dining room that seats 12 for more formal entertaining or family dinners.  A gracious kiva fireplace, banco, French doors and original wrought-iron chandelier highlight the room.  Nearby is a cozy library with kiva fireplace and built-in bookshelves.  Overlooking the living room is a mezzanine that is accessed via curved staircase.  Ideal for an in-home office, large windows capture views all the way to the Colorado border.

The master bedroom with fireplace accesses a north-facing patio.  The master bath includes expansive dual vanities, dual walk-in dressing rooms and whirlpool tub.  On the east side of the residence, offering complete privacy are two guest bedrooms, each with kiva fireplace, rose garden access and full baths.

The lower level includes a two-room fitness center with sauna, steam room, shower, and dressing room.  Outside is a hot tub and cold plunge.  Hand-carved wooden doors, corbels, oxen-cart wheels accent the house with impressive details.  Throughout are radiant/hot water heating and refrigerated air conditioning system.
